South Africa
Amanda Smoltz
Amanda is 16 years old and a sophomore at Cambridge High School. She runs track and cross country and is also on the dance team. She has danced and done musical theatre for most of her life, so this whole running thing is quite new to her. She is a sixth grade small group leader for Transit and she absolutely loves it. She was born in Michigan, but moved to Georgia when she was two so she considers herself a southern girl. She has an older sister who is 18 and a younger brother who is 13. She is so incredibly excited about going to South Africa. She has always dreamed about going and now she is so incredibly blessed to know that dream is about to come true!
Q&A with Amanda
If you owned a CB radio, what would your handle be?
If I had to pick my name for a CB radio it would probably have to be Smoltzy, because thats what a lot of my friends call me and what a lot of people know me by...Not so sure a lot of those people even know my real name...hahaha, but I answer to it!

Who has been the biggest inspiration in your life? Why? My biggest inspirations in life have definitely been my small group leaders through middle school and high school. They have really helped shape me into who I am today. The biggest blessing is knowing my leaders are not just with me through high school, but knowing they'll be life long relationships and people to look up to my whole life. I definitely could not have asked for better role models.
What's your biggest pet peeve? My absolute biggest pet peeve is being numbed. If anything on me is numb I will absolutely freak out. I have no idea why...but I cannot handle it. When I was little I had to get lots of teeth pulled so as you can imagine, it was not fun for my parents taking me home with a numbed mouth!
What's the most outrageous thing you've done for God? When thinking of the most outrageous thing I've done for God, not one thing specifically sticks out...but I feel like in life the most outrageous and hardest thing to do is put complete faith in God. Life can be hard and there are definitely struggles, the hardest thing to do is let go of our need to control outcomes, and to put complete faith and trust in God. It's something we all have to commit to every day. |
